Information handled by ChatRoleWeaver

To provide its features, ChatRoleWeaver may locally process or store:

• character details, inventories, portraits, scene details, backgrounds, session titles, Journal content, AI Context, and layout or theme preferences;
• the identifier of the current ChatGPT conversation so roleplay records can remain associated with the correct conversation;
• turn identifiers, message counts, timestamps, workflow status, freshness metadata, and other local records used to keep Journal captures and session state organized;
• the current ChatGPT composer draft temporarily during a user-requested context insertion or draft-conflict check;
• the latest assistant response when you deliberately use the Journal capture workflow.

ChatRoleWeaver may automatically create local, conversation-bound records when it recognizes a supported ChatGPT conversation.

How information is stored

In the installed extension, persistent data is stored using chrome.storage.local. ChatRoleWeaver does not use chrome.storage.sync, so extension data is not synchronized through your Google account by ChatRoleWeaver.

Local extension data is not separately encrypted by ChatRoleWeaver. It relies on the security of your Chrome profile, operating system, and device account. Anyone with access to your local browser profile may be able to inspect locally stored extension data.

Uploaded images

Character portraits, scene backgrounds, and session covers are validated and processed locally in your browser. They may be resized, converted to WebP, and stored as local extension data.

ChatRoleWeaver does not upload these images to the developer or to an image-hosting service.

Website access

ChatRoleWeaver runs only on supported ChatGPT pages so it can display its sidebar and provide its disclosed roleplay tools. Depending on the feature you choose to use, it may access:

• the visible ChatGPT composer;
• the current conversation container and visible message turns;
• the latest assistant response during a Journal capture;
• streaming-state controls and the current conversation route.

ChatRoleWeaver does not read your passwords, authentication tokens, cookies, unrelated tabs, or general browser history. It does not continuously record keystrokes, automatically send messages, or capture assistant responses outside the user-initiated Journal workflow.

Network activity and external links

ChatRoleWeaver does not transmit your extension data to the developer or to third parties. The extension contains two optional external links:

• the ChatRoleWeaver Privacy Policy hosted on GitHub Pages;
• the developer support page hosted on Ko-fi; and
• a support email link that opens your chosen email application.

These destinations open only after you deliberately select their buttons. The support email button opens your chosen email application with the developer address filled in. ChatRoleWeaver does not append chat content, extension state, identifiers, tracking parameters, or other user data to these links. External websites may receive ordinary browser and network information under their own privacy practices after you choose to visit them.

How information is used

Information handled by ChatRoleWeaver is used only to provide and maintain its clearly disclosed roleplay, organization, customization, Journal, image, and context-preparation features.

ChatRoleWeaver does not:

• sell or rent user data;
• use user data for advertising;
• use user data for credit or lending decisions;
• transfer user data for unrelated purposes;
• use remotely hosted executable code.

Data retention and deletion

ChatRoleWeaver data remains stored locally until it is replaced, removed through an available feature-specific control, cleared through Chrome’s extension or site-data controls, or removed when ChatRoleWeaver is uninstalled.

Some individual items—such as portraits, covers, characters, inventory entries, or saved dice purposes—may be removable from the extension interface. A single in-extension control for deleting every stored record may not be available.

Third-party AI services

ChatRoleWeaver operates alongside ChatGPT, which is a third-party service governed by its own terms and privacy policy. Your messages and use of ChatGPT remain subject to OpenAI’s policies and settings.

ChatRoleWeaver is an independent, unofficial extension and is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or sponsored by OpenAI.

Children’s privacy

ChatRoleWeaver is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Because ChatRoleWeaver does not operate a developer-controlled data collection service, it does not knowingly receive or maintain children’s personal information on behalf of the developer.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when ChatRoleWeaver’s features, supported websites, or data-handling practices change. The current version will remain published at this page, and the “Last updated” date above will be revised when material changes are made.
